This pandemic has been an gut-wrenching (nervous system-wrenching, really) ride that has led the collective into a new pattern of thinking with job searching: What's really in it for me?

After being let down by my last two jobs, I realized that this question was something I needed to figure the answer to, before I even thought about looking for another job. At 28, I was stuck in a career path that was supposed to be flourishing in this industry - why?
Once I looked at the career decisions I had been making in the last three years that I started with this company, it was so very clear - I was showing to management that I was an invisible employee. I did my job, I took off when needed and stayed later if needed, I was approachable but not too loud, and I was not going to be moving up anytime soon. Because I made myself seem 'comfortable' in the position I was filling, upper management reflected that in their hiring and promotional choices. I never negotiated for a higher salary or questioned when raises were reviewed. I just. did. my. job.
That quickly changed after my self-awareness (and bills) grew, and I finally understood that if I didn't play ball my way, I would forever be led by the decisions of everyone else. I couldn't live with that happening, and so I decided right then and there to manifest the career of my dreams.

Manifesting a dream job is not that easy. You are envisioning a new career, a new workplace, and for some of us, a new location, that you will dedicate most of your time to. This is something you should love doing and want to do for the foreseeable future. Knowing this will require work, more so than the manifesting phase! You will have to believe in yourself, your abilities, and show up for this daily.

Here Are Some of the 1st Steps to Planning Out Career Steps:
If you are currently in the industry you would like to be in, write down all the job duties that you do daily, weekly, monthly, etc. What do you lead? Where do you put in the most work? What do you enjoy doing? Make these the biggest points that you remember.
If you are not currently in the industry you would like to be in, write down all the job duties that MATCH what industry/career field you'd like to be in. What current soft skills do you have? What skills could you provide for that field?
Resume Overview. What does your job summary look like on your resume? Do you have any relevant certifications or licenses? Is your resume updated for the industry you'd like to transition to?
Research. Understand the path that you are taking when you are searching for a higher paying, better aligned company to join. Research the large companies that are in the industry you'd like to be in, keep an eye out for the company missions, the social media posts, and recognize yourself with what is trending. What do the workers who have the job you want have, education-wise? Experience-wise? What does the company align themselves with? Do you have these attributes? If not, can you acquire them?
Setting Yourself Up for Success. Knowing and doing are two very different things. Before you jump into pushing out your resume and attaching some template cover letter, cover yourself with the knowledge with help from the experts. Taking Real Action. Playing the game of life requires us to be fully equipped with the understanding and determination it takes to be successful. Every single day, engage with how you can better yourself at your current job. How would I want to be seen as a leader? Do I feel respected while I'm at work? Ask these real questions, journal them if needed, and reflect on what could change.
Know Your Worth. Right now, tell yourself this affirmation: "I am Worthy of the Path I Choose. I love the work that I give, and I love what work provides for me every day."
Start To Network. Networking can mean the difference between getting the job and getting the dreaded "thanks no thanks" e-mail. You must be a person who gets out in front of the right people and take the reins of your career. Meet the people in the room that are where you want to be.
This part can be easier said than done, especially from some of us who have anxiety or social shortcomings. This will mean lots of mirror practice, confidence affirmations for that daily reminder, and even bouncing what you’d say off a trusted person(s). Everyone gets nervous speaking in front of people that they don’t know, the key is to act as if you already know this person well and have what you are planning to say ready. Figuring out what the person’s interest are is also helpful, as any conversation can lead to a new discovery or common interest.

Once these steps are taken, picturing this career choice, this end goal every single day, helps make the steps go by easier, because you know the why. You can see the vision start to come to life, and all you had to do was place yourself in the path of receiving. Receiving the job that you are truly meant for, getting paid what you are truly worth and then some, being in a work community that truly values and honors you, and working to make a difference.
Put yourself in the path of abundance each time that you can, and especially when searching for a new job or career. You are here to enjoy the work that you do, despite what we previously thought.
Standing out in your natural abilities lets abundance find its way to you, and you can begin exploring what your career has to offer.
I followed these steps and manifested a career that was an 50% increase on my salary! After evaluating my skill set - here's a cool link to find out your skill set: https://www.careeronestop.org/ExploreCareers/Assessments/skills.aspx - putting in the research of the companies that represented what I admired, shooting for jobs that matched the roles I wanted to do, and negotiating my compensation confidently, I was given three job offers that all offered 50% more than what I was currently making. Fifty percent increase in salary!
As I move up the career chain, I plan to bring more to the table, and demand more from that same table. You should, too! A taxed salary isn't the only benefit to working 40 or more hours a week - full compensation - comes in many different forms. The magic is in knowing this and focusing on it with your undivided intention set.
I invite you to reflect on the needs, desires, and deepest treasures that you hold within your heart. Here are some questions that I leave you with to explore further:
I. What do you wish to accomplish on Earth?
II. What work do you do well?
III. How would you like to help others in your community, or in other communities?
IV. What experience or knowledge do you need to manifest that into reality?
V. How do you value yourself?
These simple but loaded questions can start to uncover what really lies inside, and how to plan out how to reveal it in the workplace.
Never stop demanding the things you require to thrive.
